Helinet Aviation Launches Rotorcraft External Load Training Program

Helinet Aviation is proud to launch its new Rotorcraft External Load Training Course – a specialized program designed for helicopter pilots looking to build skills in utility operations, including long-line and external cargo work.

Led by veteran instructor Kevin Yenser and developed in collaboration with Sean Moretz, the course provides a comprehensive foundation in both ground and flight operations. Training takes place at Helinet’s headquarters in Van Nuys, California, and includes practical exercises using an AS350 B3 helicopter equipped for external load missions.

The multi-day curriculum covers topics such as load rigging, vertical reference techniques, aerodynamic load handling, and emergency procedures. Flight training is conducted at the Nike Missile Site on Oat Mountain, providing real-world terrain and conditions for skill development.

This course is ideal for pilots pursuing careers in utility aviation, powerline support, law enforcement, firefighting, and other external load operations. Participants will receive a certificate of completion after meeting all ground and flight performance standards.
